Cooking Tips
- After emptying Yassa into a heavy-bottomed pan, rinse jar with ¼ cup water and add to pan before simmering. Simmer covered. Increase water up to ½ cup if you prefer a much looser and saucier Yassa. Taste at the end of cooking and adjust salt as needed.
- To thicken sauce, simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes or until sauce reaches your desired thickness.
- Africans know a thing or two about the art of braising greens. Our ancestors perfected the technique and passed it down the generations. Our signature Yassa sauce and leafy greens are a match tied in culinary heaven. Say adios to unpalatable and flavorless greens. From kale, collards, turnip and mustard greens – to bok choy and swiss chards, the flavor notes of our signature Yassa sauce make leafy greens sing and elevate them from good to sinfully good. Try our recipe for Slow Simmered Kale with Caramelized Onions and Black-Eyed Beans and you’ll be a believer.
